The lemonade detox diet, also known as the master cleanse is a 10 day long fast that requires no solid food to be eaten. Instead, only a mixture of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water is to be consumed throughout the day.

The master cleanse is simple enough, but many people try to cheat with the ingredients of the drink. They use ingredients that don’t belong and at the same time expect to have the same results as others who have followed the instructions exactly.

One serving of the master cleanse drink is made of 10 ounces of filtered water, 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons of organic lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup.

It is highly recommended to use distilled water. It is the purest water you can get, and if you are serious about your health, consider investing in a water distiller so that you can enjoy clean water daily. One of the best things you can do for your continued health is to ensure that you are drinking an adequate amount of pure water every day.

The lemon juice must be freshly juiced or squeezed from organic lemons. The mistake many people make is they use bottled lemon juice, or lemon juice concentrate. The juice must be fresh from organic lemons, as it is so much more nutritive and beneficial in this form.

The use of grade B organic maple syrup is important. Other kinds of commercial maple syrups are more processed, and as a result, do not contain as much minerals as grade B does.

Ideally, organic cayenne pepper should be used. The cayenne pepper will get your blood pumping and further help you detox. It makes the drink hot and gives it a kick, so you might want to start with a little less and then add more as you get used to it.

While on the detox you are told to drink 6-12 glasses of the lemonade drink every day.
