People love to drink smoothies in the morning or at any time during the day, especially when it’s warm out. Most people think of smoothies being traditionally made from fruit, but you can also make delicious and nutrient-packed drinks using different kinds of vegetables. If you want to increase you veggie intake, green smoothie recipes are a great gateway into healthy eating.

Adding extra veggies to your smoothies will increase your fiber intake which is great for your digestive system. The additional fiber will also help you feel full longer which can sustain energy and help people who are trying to lose weight eat less.

Fruits and vegetables are a lot more nutritious when they are raw than when they are cooked. The nutrients start to break down during cooking, so putting them in a smoothie is a good way to capture all of their nutrients.

To make the recipes, you will need to have a blender. Any brand should do, as long as the motor is strong enough to chop the vegetables. You can begin with a Kale and Banana Smoothie, which is very easy and incredibly delicious. You will need 2 bananas, 2 tablespoons of hulled hemp seeds, 1 bag of frozen blue berries, about 5 leaves of fresh kale.

Just throw everything into your blender and add water so that everything is covered, and then blend. Instead of water, you can also use milk, or a milk substitute such as almond milk, rice milk, or soy milk. This recipe makes enough for two or three people.

It is easy to mix and match fruits and vegetables to make different varieties of drinks. It is easy to invent your own green smoothie recipes using whatever produce is currently in season. It will be a delicious way to reintroduce a variety of fresh food into your diet.
